Abstract

The generalized two-dimensional correlation analysis based on time-resolved light scattering (2D TRLS) has been employed to study the phase separation of an epoxy-amine-PES blend, with the evolution time of phase separation process as the internal stimulus. The results of the 2D TRLS correlation spectral analysis can provide more detail information not readily observed in the 1D scattering light spectra. i) In the early-stage of phase separation, namely, the diffusion regime, the coarsening in size of the smaller domain takes place earlier than that of the bigger ones. ii) In the late-stage of phase separation (the hydrodynamic regime), the size change of the smaller domains due to collision and coalescence to each other takes place firstly, making the larger ones increase in size due to the hydrodynamic flow. The results suggest that the system prefer to obey in the upper method to decrease the system energy quickly.
